Some people say the name came from a blue haze around the tall dunes; others credit the blue lupine wildflowers. Still others credit the view of the water from atop this village's namesake, mountain-like dunes.
It's a perspective unlike any other along 30-A, just a little more rustic and elevated with pristine dune lakes and long-range views from the higher elevations. Popular restaurants and shops have kept the flavor of the community intact even as it has grown.
